by Ailene Cano

Most of us are aware of how difficult it is to deal with acne. We may already be aware of its root cause and other contributing factors that would lead to break outs. Also, It is well known that acne starts when pores gets blocked trapping germs, dirt, oil, and dead skin cells altogether. So we've tried various over the counter acne cleanse products to help get rid of it but to no avail. You also might have tried other known home remedies but still the same. If this is the case, it is highly recommended to see your doctor or perhaps a dermatologist.

There are actually some skin conditions that are commonly mistaken for acne. It may be the reason why those OTC products and regimens are not working. Your doctor or dermatologist will be able to help identify as to whether you have acne. Otherwise, once the true condition has been determined, he or she will be able to recommend the specific medication or procedure to cure your condition.

Some of which includes epidermal cysts, Favre-Racouchot Syndrome, Keratosis Polaris, Millia, Perioral Dermatitis, Pseudofolliculitis barbae, and acne cosmetica. In this article, we'll be discussing more on acne cosmetic, pseudofolliculitis barbae, and milla.

Acne cosmetica is triggered by cosmetic use or anything that touches the face are potential causes for this. It affects both men and women including people who are previously not prone to acne breakouts. It is characterized by small and itchy pink bumps or rash-like bumps found on the cheeks and forehead. To avoid this, use skin products that are tagged as non-acnegenic or non-comedogenic.

One very common condition is called Pseudofolliculities barbae or shaving bumps. Just like acne cosmetica, it affects both the male and female genders. This happens when the hair growing back after shaving, plucking, and even waxing gets trapped inside the follicles that it eventually leads to irritation and then swelling.

Millia is characterized by tiny white bumps that are hard to touch and are set deeply into the skin. It is also commonly found in newborn babies and is cystic in nature. Plus it can last from a few weeks and up to a few months depending on how severe millia is. Take note that this is just an overview. So it is still better to check with your doctor for a more thorough assessment and know which treatment you should be taking.
