The Eczema Skin Affliction, Varieties and Characteristics

by Paloma Smith

Due to all the marketing for eczema cures, it's likely that you understand something about eczema. But you may not know that there are several varieties. It's no overstatement to say that the number of eczema sufferers in the world is counted in the thousands and thousands. Without some knowledge of the symbols, you're unlikely to be able to take care of the condition properly. You will learn there are varying levels of severity with eczema, and that is also a factor with treating it. You have a number of alternatives if you think that eczema is your condition. Your family medical doctor will give you a steadfast prognosis, but you could also talk to a pharmacist about non-presecription treatments. A dermatologist would have the most specific knowledge of your condition.

One type of eczema that's easy to classify is called contact dermatitis. It isn't the most widespread form, but therapy is clear-cut. Two forms of contact dermatitis are in existence, called "irritant" and "allergic." We'll briefly go into detail on what these names denote. An example of the irritation kind of dermatitis would be a noxious chemical or other substance that causes a rash when it touches your skin. The reason of this might be attributed to perfumes, household clean-up preparations, or soaps. The signs of allergic eczema are about the same, but the causes aren't irritants so much as things that you might be allergic to. Illustrations consist of pet dander, pollen, and dust mite excretions.

Atopic eczema is the kind of eczema most frequently observed. It occurs almost exclusively in children four years old and under. An itchy, dry rash is the major affliction. Young children logically tend to scratch the itch and worsen the condition. There may possibly also be puffiness apparent in the area. Always take your child to the pediatrician to identify the correct diagnosis and the most effective treatment.

A type of eczema that affects older people is varicose eczema. Dark-colored areas of skin that might be red, itchy, and puffy describe this condition. This primarily results from inadequate blood circulation in the lower legs. That type of poor circulation causes fluid to accumulate in the legs. This can bring about varicose veins, or thrombosis. You may also notice this variety of eczema referred to as "static eczema" or "gravitational eczema." Incredibly prominent inflammation and even ulceration of the skin can develop in the most acute cases.

There are a number of further types of eczema, and the significant thing is to keep an eye on your situation. Much depends on the kind and where it is happening as well as other variables. If you are not sure about what it going on with your skin, and suspect eczema, then of course the best thing is to pay a visit to your family doctor right away. The signs of the distinctive varieties of eczema can vary broadly in terms of severity. Your skin doctor or physician is the one who can give you a exact diagnosis and prescribe the accurate treatment.
