Dementia Rating Scale

The condition of dementia goes through different stages in its development. In order to diagnose the illness and quantify the symptoms of this condition, different rating and diagnosis instruments are used. One of the most common instruments is the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale (CDR). The instrument functions as a numeric device used to quantify the intensity of various dementia symptoms.

Names of the close family are forgotten and there is little memory of events which are recent. Speaking ability declines and they can only remember some of the things before getting this problem. Average duration for this stage is 2.5 years.
The PAINAD scale enables the medical practitioner to use its rubric to quantify the severity of pain indicative aspects. The instrument can be used by a medical practitioner to ascertain if certain behaviors are pain related or not. Accurate diagnosis of dementia is critical at any stage of the disease.
