Strength Training and Nutrition Tips to Build Muscle

Once you've incorporated working out into your daily routine, you'll exercise to maintain the muscles you've built through hard work. Use the tips below to avoid common causes of muscle disuse that can result in loss of muscle.

Expect small setbacks during your road to increased muscle mass. For one thing, your muscles will begin to expect you regular workouts so you must change the types of exercise you do. Once your are able to do more than 12 repetitions, you should add more weight to bring your repetitions back down to six.

Make sure you eat more than three meals a day, and this should be done by eating smaller more frequent meals. Of course, you're supposed to increase the amount of calories you're eating each day, so make sure you're still getting your number.

A great way to build muscle is to pay close attention to nutrition, and eat a good amount of protein and carbohydrates. By eating every two hours, and ensuring you get no less than 1.5 grams of protein for each pound of your own weight and no less than 2 grams of carbohydrates per pound. You will have the nutritional tools necessary to build muscle.

In a plan where you're not supposed to eat just three meals a day but increased calories and plenty of snack times, nuts are a great idea. They carry high protein, and they are a great snack for on the go. They can occasionally be your protein before or after your workout. There are a bunch of different nuts that do the trick. You can get a can of mixed nuts, or you can eat certain ones.

After working out it is important to stretch well if you want the muscles to repair and build themselves well. Someone who is under forty should hold each stretch at least thirty seconds. Someone over 40 should hold their stretches for at least 60 seconds. This will help to insure that you do not get injured after doing exercise to build muscle.
