Fitness. What is it, really? Is it getting up early in the morning to force yourself to go on a long run that leaves you exhausted, gasping for breath, and ready to give up? Stretch those muscles. Your muscles have to get stretched for longer periods of time as you get older. Aging causes muscle density to decrease, as well as a decrease in pliability. This might be tied into the fact that you naturally are stronger on your dominant hand, and by staring at it you help to balance it.

Practice "Four-Square Breathing" after your workout while stretching. Breath in for four seconds, then breath out for four seconds, and repeat for three minutes. "Four-Square Breathing" increases your lung capacity and reduces stress when done properly, which helps you relax after your workout, and get ready for the rest of your day.

For someone new to the idea of getting in shape, fitness does not have to mean buying the most expensive shoes and training for a marathon. For those with little athletic ambition, a good start would be taking the stairs up to the office instead of the elevator and walking to a work-mate's office to relay a message instead of sending an in-office email.
