Back pain may have more possible causes than any other ailment. The reason your back is so susceptible to pain is that there are more than 20 separate vertebrae that can be injured at any time. If you wear shoes that are not appropriate for your daily activities, you may suffer from back pain. Your shoes supply the base from which your body is grounded.

Sleeping on a mattress that doesn't properly support your back can contribute to back problems, especially lower back pain. A low-quality mattress, or one that is old, can no longer keep your spine aligned while you sleep, leading to possible back pain. Not everybody will be satisfied with the same type of mattress. However, a faulty, inexpensive, poor quality mattress wouldn't be the right choice for anybody. One easy solution to getting rid of your back pain is to buy a new mattress. Do you sleep with a stack of pillows under your head? This can easily lead to back pain as it puts a strain on your back. Your neck and head will not be properly aligned with your back when you raise it up with an abundance of pillows. This, as you might have surmised by now, can lead to back pain.

You may experience back pain at an older age, of course it was not old age that necessarily caused it, but some sort of strain or injury at a younger age. Osteoporosis is a disease primarily in women and will lessen the strength of your bones, which will make them more susceptible to fractures and breaks. Osteoarthritis is one disease that can certainly torment your whole body, but tends to hit the spine most often.

Many people develop degenerative disc disease as they get older, due to decreasing bone density. There are many other less known disorders that hit the older generation which will produce back issues. Yet you can often prevent or reduce the impact of such problems by getting regular exercise and taking nutritional supplements that support bone health.

Anytime you are experiencing back pain you look for the quickest way to make it vanish, no matter what you need to do. You will be more prepared to prevent some of these types of injuries once you are conscious of their origins. In some instances, you will need to seek professional help. There are some back troubles that can get significant relief when you visit someone like a chiropractor or massage therapist.
