A Few Handy Fixes To Deal With Acid Reflux.

by Rhonda White

Do you have acid reflux? You might not know that you have it. Acid reflux has been known to show up in the form of nausea, bloatedness or a throat lump. Read this article if you'd like to prevent the start of these irritating symptoms.

The way you eat food can cause acid reflux. Many folks eat rapidly, and consume abundant amounts. You will see a detriment to your health if you continue to eat this way with acid reflux. Don't eat excessively. Stop when you are no longer hungry. Also, slow down your eating speed at the table. Take the time to enjoy your food and stop when you are full.

Drink before and not during meals. Doing this also combats feelings of hunger, since you're probably thirsty rather than hungry. In addition, doing so will help your stomach and will keep the acid down.

Spicy foods, like hot peppers, need to be avoided if you have acid reflux. Spicy foods can cause your stomach to produce more acid. If you are able to avoid these foods, you may also be able to avoid the reflux symptoms.

Drop pounds. Being overweight can cause you to suffer from reflux even more. The fat around your stomach and esophagus puts pressure on them, causing them to malfunction and give you heartburn. Do some exercise to lose a few pounds and you will see a difference.

Some foods are very likely to cause acid reflux or make existing reflux worse. Fried foods, caffeinated beverages, chocolate, and alcohol are some common trigger items. Acidic foods like citrus fruits and tomatoes can also cause reflux. Specific triggers can vary for each person, so you will have to experiment to figure out which particular foods trigger your acid reflux. To be perfectly safe, you can avoid all of these items.

If you have acid reflux, do not exercise after eating. The food in the stomach may be pushed up into the esophagus when the lower muscles in the abdomen contract during exercising. Wait for a couple of hours before you work out.

Think about the things that stress you out and limit them as much as you can. Stress produces stomach acid, which in turn can cause inflammation and heartburn pain. Find out what is causing your anxiety and eliminate it from your life immediately.

What do you have to do to stop the suffering? Can you once again sleep through the night now? Use the advice above to help heal your esophagus. These tips will really change your life.
