Do Supplements Have Any Part In Organic Food?

by Rob Sutter

Organic food is attractive since there are no additives to be seen within it. Without any outside ingredients and nutrients playing their part, once you take a bite you can be certain that you're only receiving the most natural taste. Food companies seem to be hindering this, though, thanks to a number of supplements being added to good. While some of them add nutritional value, supposedly, one has to wonder where the line should be drawn.

I like that organic food of all types does not need anything else added since they are already healthful by nature. The nutrients are not brought on by chemicals or additives and instead the body takes in the authentic components of anything that's ingested. Companies the likes of Colle Farmers Market grant sellers a platform to sell their crops throughout an Internet marketplace. Food companies seem to be taking that sort of freedom away, sadly, though for reasons I'm not entirely certain of.

I'm sure that people take to calcium-enriched orange juice, for example, because the prospect is attractive and there might be many other options available. This is understandable but how do we know that these supplements are natural? We don't and I'd hate to be the one feeding these to my family if I had one. I would much rather have my kids attempt to eat organic because it does seem like the safer option after learning about the subject.

I think it should be a crime to claim that a food product is organic by companies, only for it to be known that additives were placed within. If this was the case, I could guarantee that the establishments would see fewer customers walking amongst the stores. As much as I'd like this to happen, I don't feel it will due to price issues. While the food you'd buy at a local supermarket may not be as healthful for you, the fact of the matter is that is more cost-friendly in comparison.

I believe that food companies continuously use these synthetic products because people will take to them even after knowing the facts. Compare the number of organic stores to just about any other market in existence. The numbers are not in the organic stores' favor, even if there is an establishment you know that is close by. I can only hope that these very establishments will continue to rise in numbers but until that time, I will be left disappointed in how our health may be impacted in the long run.
