Natural makeup products can actually improve the quality of a person's skin. Unlike traditional cosmetics that clog pores, gets caked up, and often leaves a woman's face looking artificial and mask like, natural products are made specifically to compliment what nature has created. Of course this means chemical free and natural.
Many store shelves are filled with products that would never sell if women really knew what was in them. Mercury, lead, industrial chemicals and more do not sound like something anyone should be putting on their face or anywhere near their body for that matter.
Recently a study of lipstick was conducted by the United States food and drug administration. Four hundred brands were chosen. All of these items were found to contain lead. Still the FDA deemed the lead levels as safe for human use. Safe for human use, wow. Most people are astounded by this decision. One parent who was interviewed told of an experience she had with her young daughter. Apparently the child had a severe reaction to a child's play makeup she had used. The reaction caused the child serious wheezing and her face became swollen about three times its normal size. After a trip to the emergency room and receiving medical treatment the little girl thankfully was fine. This does however beg the question of why the FDA deemed this product safe for children. It also calls into question the credibility of their decision making capacity.
The skin is the human body's largest organ. Without it life can not be sustained. It is also absorbent and susceptible to everything in its environment. Now, we can not completely control what is in the air around us, but we certainly have full control of what we put inside and on our bodies. Understanding that what we put on our skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream will make most people think twice about what they may be willingly exposing themselves to.
Properly nourishing the skin is as important as nourishing the rest of the body. If poison ingested through the mouth is dangerous, then it makes sense that poison ingested or absorbed in any manner will also be dangerous. We are what we eat...
So many ingredients found in traditional cosmetics can create a negative outcome. Those who deal with eczema or acne, or are prone to hives will almost surely have difficulty with the perfumes, chemical dyes, and oils that these products generally contain. In the past, many women who deal with these issues had given up on makeup entirely. Thankfully they have an safer choice today.
