If You Want Hypertrophy, You Need More Protein

Many of them resort to purchasing the latest whey protein supplements or pre workout intensifiers to boost their results on the gym floor, but the real secret to more mass is far simpler than you might expect it to be...

Like many other areas of life, sometimes the solution is far simpler than people expect it to be. We often search for deep, meaningful answers when the solution could be staring us in the face.

Gaining size and strength is not rocket science or brain surgery. The principles are actually quite straightforward.

There is one area of hypertrophy training which is consistently overlooked, though. That is the area of nutrition. In order to build more lean mass, you must consume the right kind of nutrition and that starts with a solid base of protein.

Protein remains the key to your muscle building goals. If you are not consuming enough, you will not see results. The average person requires around 100 grams of protein per day.

Somebody who trains with weights and high intensity cardiovascular workouts needs far more than the basic recommendation. Try consuming around 1.5 grams of protein per pound of your current body weight and you will be able to experience far better results.

The world of sports supplements also has some useful resources, too.

These days most men at least own a whey protein supplement. However, they get very little protein from the rest of their diet, meaning the expensive supplements they buy each month have a minimal effect on their overall results.

Then there is the issue of protein digestion. The body can only digest so much protein in one sitting. The latest research suggests that this figure is around 12 grams an hour. This means you'd actually get superior results by eating protein in small but frequent doses rather than one big serving. A whey protein supplement which boasts, say, 50 grams per shake would lead to a lot of waste There are things you can do to improve this if you so choose.

For instance, many supplement manufacturers are now providing digestive enzymes and other products to enhance the body's ability to handle larger servings of protein, leading to greater muscular gains. One such product, of course, is iSatori BioGro which claims to be a protein synthesis amplifier.

The overall fact here is, undoubtedly, that most men who want to add size to their frame are overlooking the importance of dietary protein. They are happy to buy supplements, but don't truly realize just how much daily protein their body requires to pack on that size and strength.
