A More In-Depth Look On The Treatment Of Cutaneous Tags

by Aaron Dorsey

Do you know what skin tags are? Cutaneous outgrowths are very commonly seen in many people. Basically, it is a loose pack of skin hanging from a stalk. These skin tags could be skin colored while others are brown. They are referred to as papilloma colli or soft fibroma.

In cases where people want to increase body mass and weight, they turn to steroids and other similar illicit drugs. This is especially true in the case of athletes, particularly bodybuilders, who want to gain weight really fast. One of the bad effects of the steroids is the formation of skin tags in different region of the body. Skin tags appear when collagen fibers become entangled and trapped under the skin. Collagen fibers become tangled messes for many reasons, and one of them is simply the reaction caused by causative agents such as steroids.

When you observe the time period of the development of skin tags, you might see that it mainly occurs in women during periods of hormonal changes. This implies that skin tags develop largely because of some corresponding hormonal level changes. Pregnant women also develop skin tags especially under the breast or in the groins. Another noted cause for skin tag formation is the changes in the level of insulin in the body. Diabetic people, or those people who are suffering some other form of insulin resistance tend to have more skin tags all over their bodies. Skin tags appear in both men and women, and it does not choose a particular age group, either. Unfortunately, there seems to be no scientific explanation behind them. The skin tags also appear randomly. There is no definite time frame because they can appear at anytime during one's lifetime and it also appears anywhere in the body. Even normal people will not be spared. You do not have to be undergoing pregnancy or puberty. You do not even have to be an athlete. There are people who have a tendency to have more skin tags than other people. But any normal person can develop it.

Skin tags will commonly occur underneath the breast region in female and it might occur under the neck region in most men. There are even men who have skin tags under their eyelids and even in their armpits. Often, they also appear around the middle of the body and everywhere there are skin folds. Regions which are always exposed to the rubbing of skin and clothes will be more susceptible to the formation of skin tags.

Once you see skin tags appearing on your body, you might wonder why they are there to begin with or what caused them to surface at that particular point in time. Many medical professionals blame it on genetics and heredity. Those who are obese will have more number of skin tags than the thin people. Since skin tags are said to be inherited, you can expect a child and a grandchild having skin tags if their grandparents have them too. That is why it is no longer strange to see an entire family or clan having skin tags.
